The old-growth forest was somebody's home long before it was a trailhead.
Go deep enough into the Pacific Northwest, past the last logging road, into the cathedral dark beneath trees that were old when your grandparents were born, and the feeling is unanimous: you are a guest here, and not the largest one. The Sasquatch belongs to that country the way fog and cedar do. The peoples who lived there had names for it long before the word Bigfoot existed. It is less a creature to be caught than a reminder of how much wilderness is still out there with no use for us at all.
Keep it wild, keep it unproven, and keep walking softly.
