The Mothman of Point Pleasant is the most famous cryptid in the country for a plain reason: a seven-foot, red-eyed, winged figure that does not lurk in some far-off jungle but walks the roads of an ordinary American town. They built it a statue. They throw it a festival every year. And they still half mean it when they tell you to keep your doors locked and your eyes on the treeline by the water.
